Background of the Study
The Jackson (born 1942) was a young activist at demonstrations in 1960 led by King. He made friends, both personal and political, with many white pastors and students who had taken part in marches in the South and in the campaign for voting rights. In Chicago, his hometown, neighborhood organizations formed to encourage teenagers to take school seriously, to prepare for college or technical education, learn to speak and write well, to enjoy the sports and cultural activities rather than be hanging around street corners selling drugs in short, develop all forms of personal dignity and efficiency to enable them to function in contemporary American society. Its activities in the past 15 years combined elements of the ideology of personal efforts of Booker T. Washington Washington with the organizational methods of the civil rights movement and the moral creed of Martin Luther King.. It has the extraordinary purity and emotional power that characterized King, but to say this is simply to recognize that the saints are not born every day.. What he did patiently, and with increasing success, was to build a new coalition in American politics interracial.
