Between a rock and a hard place is the autobiography of Aron Ralston, published in 2004, the book relates the experience of Ralston to get caught up in Blue John Canyon in the desert of Utah, and how he was forced to amputate Arm right with a low-quality multi-tool in order to free himself after his arm trapped by a rock (Williams, 2011). The book describes the childhood of Ralston, how fond of outdoor activities after moving to Colorado in Indiana, how he became a great lover of nature and how he left his career as an engineer at Intel to practice activities the outdoors as much as possible.

Aron Ralston Lee (born October 27, 1975) is an American mountaineer and public speaker. He rose to fame in May 2003 when descending canyons in Utah, forced to amputate his right arm with a dull knife to free him, after his arm trapped by a rock. The incident documented in the autobiography of Ralston, 2004 Between a rock and a hard place, is the subject of the film in 2010 127 hours (Ralston, 2011).

The book goes back and forth in alternating chapters between past experiences and his imprisonment in the canyon. The hardcover edition includes images of the terrible days in the canyon, several photos of past trips that we talk in the book, a glossary of slang in the mountains, and maps of Blue John Canyon and near the canyon in the east, central Utah (Martel, 2009).

On Saturday morning, April 23, 2003 appeared radiant Aron Ralston, 27, lover of nature and the mountains, so he decided to take his mountain bike and head towards the red sandstone rocks of Canyon lands National Park in Utah.
