Introduction

Comparing the modern times to the Elizabethan times, a lot of society customs have modified drastically. However, some are exceptionally alike, too. At present, in different parts of the globe, traditions could be more parallel to Elizabethan times than in the USA. The role of women and marriage has seen some serious evolution. In numerous countries, women are given rights to do everything from ruling the country to having around the clock jobs. Historians have now also started taking interest in the lives of the women. This concentration has resulted in widespread research on the significant roles that women have played in the history. Now, the history resources on women are available from more or less every library, college campus, bookstore, and historical society (Berger, 2009).

In the past, marriages were based on wealth and power. Countless marriages were agreed to grant higher social standing and wealth to families. It was taught to the women that they were inferior to men and that disregard or insubmission was a sin in their religion. The rule provided men that authority, as one could state that possessing a wife was like being the owner of a portion of land. A vocation for any women was just absurd since they were only projected to bring up children and take care of the household.
