Women were not treated equal to men for centuries. They had no independence in choosing their job or work. They were even not allowed to buy their own property and neither got their share from their parent's property. They were not even allowed to vote. Now when the dark days against the women are over we must still fight and ensure that women all around the world get their rights. Women should be given equal rights to men without being gender biased. The term gender equality can be explained as a concept in which all humans including men and women are independent to make choices for themselves without any limitations. The different needs and goals of men and women should be favored, valued and considered equally.
Empowerment can be defined as a procedure of development of an individual. So, that they can shape their lives and bring a positive change in their economical and social conditions. The implementation of gender equality and women empowerment is known as gender mainstreaming. It is mainly concerned with the improvement, organization, development, planning, and evaluation of all the policies so that gender equality is implemented at all the levels. Women empowerment and reconstructing masculinity helps in maintaining a balance between masculine and feminine role in the society.
