Introduction

In 2007, the term WiTricity was initiallay used for the project that was undertaken at MIT and it was led by Marin Soljacic. The researchers of MIT determined the ability to switch power of 60 watt bulb without using a wire through the help of two 5 turn copper coils with a diameter of 60 cm that were placed 2 m away from each other at efficiency of 45 percent. These coils were used to determine resonate at 9.9MHz which were placed along the similar axis. It was observed that the bulb was still powered on by the setup even when the direct line of sight was blocked with the help of a wooden panel. It was very easy for the researchers in this experiment to light a 60 watt bulb at a distance of 3 feet with 90 percent efficiency (Wireless power transfer, n.d).

This research project was further spun off into a private organization which is now known as WiTricity. This was an effective emerging technology that was identified and demonstrated by Eric Giler who is he CEO of the organization at the TED Global Conference which was held at Oxford in July, 2009. It is observed that a WiTricity power unit powering a television along with three different cell phones was shown by the Eric Giler in this demonstration. It was observed that there was an initial problem that inspired Solijacic to pose involvement with the project. It is further observed that Toyota invested in WiTricity on April 27, 2011. The organization also announced that it would make a demonstration kit of $ 1000 available for the interested parties and also take considerable steps for the promotion of development of commercial applications (Witricity, 2013).

Discussion

WiTricity is a very important organization that plays a vital role in making the technology related things easier, effective and efficient. It is also very obvious that this is an organization that promotes technology and aims to make the technology products available for the market. The following discussion will be based on exploring the technology aspects of WiTricity and the main components on which the technology of WiTricity has been founded. The main foundation of WiTricity is based on the combination of electromagnetic resonant objects that are used for the transfer of energy without using wires between them. In addition to this, this method of transferring energy is quite different from other methods such as air ionization, induction and microwaves. It is aswell empiric that this arrangement consists of receivers and transmitters that abide of alluring bend antennas which are acquainted to the aforementioned abundance alarmingly(Shukla & Tiwari, 2011).

It is very important to ensure that the receiving devices are no more than a quarter wavelengths from the transmitter because of the operation in the electromagnetic near field.
