Introduction

Volunteer tourism is a process in which people travelling, voluntarily engage in charitable and related services for the greater good of human beings and mankind. People engaged in volunteer tourism are those who work and thrive for doing something good for the community and people around them. From simple tasks of cleaning the roads and forests to more aggregative tasks like providing medicines and working as a nurse or doctor, people involved in volunteer tourism are involved in many activities that sound simple to complicated at times.

At the first note, it can be assumed that what can go wrong while involved in volunteer tourism. Helping people around while travelling is a simple idea that sounds pure in nature, but like it is said, every action has an equal and opposite reaction, same is with the Volunteer tourism. Even though it has a lot of benefits both financially and physically, Volunteer tourism does come with its cons.

That person who cannot afford to give charity for the poor is the ones who are involved in the volunteer tourism so that they can provide and help people even though the help is not of a financial help.

As said above, people of every colour, religion and skills courageously get involved in the process of volunteer tourism which is both good for the community and also bad most of the times. But before discussing this topic any further, the meaning and the idea of the host community should be clarified.

People or members of the Host Community are the ones who are directly engaged with the supply side of volunteer tourism. In easy words, host communities are the communities that provide services to volunteer tourists, and provide them with the knowledge these tourists require whether it is the knowledge related to their heritage or assistance required to understand the custom being followed.
