Introduction

There are numerous instances in a person's life, where he/she is bound to make a choice between what his mind says, and what the heart has been coercing him to perform, bearing in mind the commitment that he has made to himself. A common aspect that often puts a person in this perplexing position is the deeply imbedded fear and apprehension of the unseen matters and preconceived notions. The ethical or rather an ideological delimma, faced by a human, elaborates the courage, he posses. For most it is a matter of seconds, where they have to make a choice, mostly sentimental rather than rational, between, what has to be done at that very moment, which is hanging between life and death.

Somewhat similar is the case with a soldier in a battle field, as he fears to confront the bloodshed and adversity that awaits him, yet is compelled by the inner responsibility to his country and nation to play his vital part in safeguarding the important innocent lives.

Primarily the novel revolves around the sketching of the scenario of the civil war. By elaborating the scenerio, we can say that the civil war was one of the davistating aspect, that his has ever witnessed . Hence, the key aspects of this novel mainly revolve around the detriments and horrors of the civil war, and also around the prime fortitude, valour as well as unshakeable faith of a soldier that is carving for a right direction, to find its actual and real face, and once it is found, then no impediment and fright of the world can stop the courageous feet of a soldier.

It is interesting to note three phases of a soldier and the transformation his stances and feelings attain.
