When one looks at the recent trend that has been prevailing in the corporate structure, the aging of the baby boomers have had wider implications. The overall political situation has also played its part and thus organization these days are having lot of problems as far as retaining the older structure is concerned (Temkin, 2008). No one can deny the fact that as society is advancing as far as its knowledge base is concerned. The success of the organization depends a lot on the performance of its employees.

Problem Background

When one looks at the overall trend and statistics, they are showing some trends that one simply cannot ignore. Overall employment trends such as engagement and retention are transforming the way conventional workplace was being seen. Trends will motivate the organizational leaders to have a look at their performance (Lockwood, 2006). The organization that is more open and responsive to the structural changes are more prone to reap rewards in the future.

When one looks at the event that have culminated since last decade, it can be seen that organization these days are struggling to find the talented workers, as lot of baby boomers will be retiring from the workplace (Temkin, 2008).

Companies are facing the dilemma as far as management of the talent is concerned due to this and they have started thinking about the problem. Obviously, HR workers will have to work closely with the management to attract, retain, and to develop and hire new talent. HR leaders must realize that this dilemma is occurring at the first place due the challenges that are being faced socio economically (Robbins, 2003). There are cultural challenges as well. Some of the other reasons are lack of legislation regarding immigration; outsourcing of jobs is also one reason for this apparent change. Organizational leaders must try to achieve stability to remain competitive as global economy is shaping up in a different manner and short range approaches are not doing a job.

Background of the problem

During the period of 2009 and 2018, lot of baby boomers will be retiring and newer generation will be assuming more roles in the organization. Talent management must incorporate management as well as role theories about it. When we talk about role management theories, it talks about the ways an organization will manage its leaders through better organization, leading and controlling the employees (Shivers-Blackwell, 2004).

When we talk about the role theory, it is a concept that that prompts the awareness in number of ways some roles are being carried out at the organizational level. Role theory is based on the notion that every role that one carries out in an organization and concept of one's being.
