Introduction

The Humane Society of Hobart was established and received its license in 1954. Previously people were stressed to discover a solution for the growing number of strays and running animals that usually met a cruel destiny. With no capacity to hold lost and deserted animals, expensive and loved pets were usually neglected or abused because they had walked from home, lost animals were usually shot in the streets.
