Introduction

The (WHO) World Health Organization initiated the World Alliance for Patients Safety identifies some important areas, including the development of Solutions for Patient Safety.

A The Joint Commission, the organization of quality assurance in medical, hospital, and its international arm, the International Joint Commission, have been designated as the WHO Collaborating Centre on Solutions for Patient Safety for the preparation and dissemination of solutions that have aimed Patient Safety.

Patient safety is one of the major issue in the field of medical and health. This is one of the greatest responsibilities on the shoulders of caregiver. In this regard Evidence-Based Nursing or (EBN) is the kind of evidence based nursing practice, carried out on the basis of evidence based medicine. It is based on determining the findings of the research and its findings and its implementation in the field of nursing and medicine, it is basically used with a view to strengthen the procedures of medical and nursing it also helps in enhancing the care and safety of the patient as it is one of the major reasonability of a patient (Baumann, 2010).

Discussion

The goal of the development and foundation of EBN is to make the patients aware of the health care needs. EBN is a process founded on the collection, interpretation, and integration of valid, important, and applicable research. Some of the authors define EBN in a descriptive manner, considering only the application of the findings of randomized clinical trials, while others also include the use of case reports and expert opinions to solve the critical issues. Therefore it is important for a practitioner to ensure safety (Beauchamp, 2007). These are some of the skills preached in order to streamline the process and had a great impact on professional training.

Purpose and Objectives

Evidence based nursing aims:

To equip the patients with high level of care.

To enhance quality of care provided by nurses.

To enhance the patients satisfaction

To spotlight on nursing practice away from habits and tradition to evidence and research.



Goal 1: Correct identification of patients

Purpose: To accurately identify the patient for taking any action either by medical or paramedical personnel.

Use at least two identifiers.

Do not use abbreviations.

Universalize codes.

Never use patient identification by the number of bed or room.

Confirm by patient identifiers before each action

The correct identification of patients helps in identifying the correct cure for that particular patient (Davies, 2000). The field of medicine and nursing is of critical importance because if by mistake a patient is wrongly treated then it becomes a serious issue.

Goal 2: Improve effective communication

Purpose: To reduce damage by health personnel actions for misunderstandings in the implementation of an action.

Collect two indicators provided prior to each action.

Standardize communications between staff while delivering the patient, communication must be effective, clear, understood and accurate.

Establish indicators and reporting procedures.
