Introduction

Almost one third of the population in Europe within thirty five years of age has a colonist background. This is not the only however a significant cause of cultural and linguistic diversity in the entire systems of Europe, specifically the educational system. These systems, unfortunately, in the past, did not fairly adapt to cultural diversity amongst their populace. The students, in the entire school systems of Europe, with colonist backgrounds are intensely underprivileged. This paper would focus on the actual cultural diversity and challenges facing Europe these days; the cultural and linguistic composition of a mediocre local school that might be situated in a European city.

Cultural Challenges in Europe

The cultural challenges prevalent in Europe would be elucidated, taking an absolutely ordinary school in Germany as an example. It is a small primary school having approximately two hundred children, situated in the interior city of Hamburg. Almost fifty percent of the children in this school have a monolingual background. They belong to family backgrounds having long familial lines in Germany. The rest of the fifty percent denote over fifteen nationalities, almost twenty distinct home languages. Majority of these children use multiple languages for speaking. Diversity of lifestyles and cultural heritages and multilingualism, for each and every child in this school, make up part of their day to day experience. The German lingo serves a significant role of lingua franca in the school for everyone. Nonetheless, it is anything but the only language in that school.

Apart from German language, for the children, it has become widespread to actively employ other languages. In duration of games, a child conducts counts in Turkish language, some other child thanks or greets in Italian language, others employ Polish “choosing rhymes” or Portuguese ...
