Program Goals Achieved

The Community Oriented Policy Services is working for controlling the increasing crime rate in United States of America. Thus the major goal of the study is to ensure that a policy is designed and implemented that could control the increasing crime rate in the society. The different objectives that have been proposed in order to fulfill the goal include; firstly to introduce activities along with the principles of the community, secondly to implement and apply a research framework that should take into consideration tangible and realistic factors of community policing. Third objective is to develop an assessment tool that could enable the law enforcement agencies to find out that either the goals are achieved or not. This also helped in developing an internal plan for the organization. Fourth objective of the study was to test and ensure the validation of the policies implemented. The self-assessment will help in analyzing that either the budget formulated for the implementation of the framework will be implemented or not. Fifth objective is to design a guide book that should serve for many years as a source of guidance for the law enforcement agencies. It could help the Practioners in implementing the policies and thus help in taking measures to control the crime rate in the country. The last objective is to align the policies with the resources available so that self-assessment results can be obtained.

The COPS have been able to achieve many of the objectives and thus are able to achieve their goal of implementing policies and controlling the crime rate in United States of America. The community policy services are able to align the policies according to the resources available. The self-assessment objective is not been achieved completely and still a lot of work needs to be done in order to make the accountability more efficient and effective. The major reason for the effectiveness and achievement of the goal is due to the fact that the planning and the research framework developed by the COPS were designed according to the budgets. Therefore the COPS were able to design, practice and achieved the desired results by aligning their policies for the community with the resources available. The COPS have designed a research framework for a reasonable period and the amount of budget available for the research was $ 299,934. There is a great need to combine all the significant elements pertaining to community policing less than one unified framework so that the agencies in order to accomplish the transition phase know the exact step by step process to follow in the context of community policing. Such a framework would be accepted and validated by all.
