The paper written by Elliot Colla by the title 'The People Want' based on the slogans of the Egyptian revolution that composed of poetry and rhyme that slogans are the main essence of the revolution because the medium and form of the slogan is significant and thus the lasting power of slogans had a strong impact over the contentious performance of revolutionary activists.

Summary and Analysis

Analyzing the Egyptian revolution revealed that political projects are mainly characterized by self conscious and recognizable patterns of actions, which leads to develop the protest culture. As Colla highlighted the work by Bayat by stating that social movements mainly combined with three different elements; a sustained and organized claim making towards the target authorities; a gamut of performance that include involvement form different communities like street marches, media statement and public meetings and at last the importance of public representation towards the cause by showing unity, worthiness and commitment. As per these elements, Egyptian revolution clearly based on the mentioned elements because it was gathering of huge number of people that conducted marches, demonstrations and strikes. Different revolutionary slogans were illuminated during the revolution that builds the pace of revolution. Colla highlighted this account of revolution as an innovation that took place in the dynamic history of adapting and learning.

The first slogan that Egyptians begin to chant was 'the people want to topple the regime', the slogan was considered as radically fresh and familiar and observed as the combination of power. The period of Egyptian revolution was very critical because of the Tunisia, thus media role was very significant in capturing different slogans of revolutions.
