Stylistic Analysis and use of Stylistics in Literature to Improve the English Language
Introduction
In addition to receiving critical acclaim, Ok Computer drew comparisons with art progressive rock albums of the 70's. This is a sign that the band was being perceived as more serious or intellectual than the typical pop-rock group. Many fans, critics and musicologists have found links between the album Ok Computer, the British band Radiohead, and progressive rock of the 70s. Exploiting hypermetric structures and complex measures, the presence of internal musical logic of the album are layered with several stylistic elements for associations with groups like Pink Floyd. As part of their artistic approach, many progressive groups have used the concept album encompassing some recurring themes. And internal consistency of the phonographic processing logic and stylistic, Ok Computer, also allow considering it as a concept album. Some themes explored by these groups within their conceptual album, can be found in the symptomatic Radiohead. These themes are widespread corruption of Western society and alienation due to mass consumption, the anxiety of being swallowed (disappear), the sudden pressure of everyday life and the negative repercussions of modern technology. It is possible to some closely related values ??used as a central theme in the album against-cultural movement. Can we call Radiohead "progressive" or group progressive trend by bringing some features of style within an album, such as OK Computer? The analysis will focus on some specific thematic parallel between the rock progressive and album OK Computer. The initial description in the paper will define what is a concept album and the elements that characterize it. In a second step, we will identify some conceptual album like Dark Side of the Moon by Pink Floyd, Thick as a Brick by Jethro Tull and The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway Genesis themes. Subsequently, some parallels are drawn between the above mentioned themes and the album OK Computer by Radiohead. In the later sections of the discussion paper we will discuss a stylistic and thematic analysis of a song directly related to the themes explored in the earlier discussions. The piece that will be addressed and explored is "Paranoid Android". The content analysis of the song will validate some thematic relationships between the soft power and Radiohead in question. The subject of this analysis does not address the definition of Ok Computer as a concept album but directs light on the exploration of certain themes progressive choice in connection with it. We will determine later whether these relationships are said to be sufficient to classify Radiohead as "progressive" or group progressive trend?
