Strengths and Weakness of Research Paper

Step 1: The Problem

This research paper is based on highlighting the issues and challenges that were faced by the Obama Administration in Research and Evaluation of National Security Affairs in Afghanistan. The research is based on secondary data which is collected from various resources such as journals and articles but there are several references that do not match with the research topic that is “Research and Evaluation in National Security Affairs”. Therefore, the research becomes un-clear and un-authenticated. The references or the sources that would be used in gathering of research material should be relevant and related to the research topic, as it will help the researcher in inclusion quality information. There are various ways that can be used in collection of data for literature review related to research. Some of the most commonly used sources that are used in collection of data for literature review are online libraries, books, journals, articles and authentic websites (Government websites). The problem that is being discussed in this research paper is related to the issues and complications faced by the Obama Administration in announcing the withdrawal timeline of the forces from Afghanistan. The problem statement is not written effectively as it should indicate the issue on which the research paper will be based on, but it starts with “The objective…” objective and problem are the two different things that should not be mixed together. The main aim of the Obama Administration was to bring peace and security in Afghanistan by removal of the terrorist activities that were rendered by the activist group such as Al-Qaida. The removal of the armed forces from Afghanistan was to handover the power and authority to Karzai government, so that they could manage the country's affairs in an effective way. The Karzai government was not able to work without the support of United States or Obama Administration, as the administration had taken all the powers from them and they became their slaves. The data that have been included in the research paper has been able to address the research questions that are raised in the research paper but the research questions should not be more than 2 or 3 but this research paper is having 4 questions. The research questions should not be in the given form like “What should….?” It should be made in such a way that the existing information could be skimmed out from the available sources and not personal opinion of any one. All the research questions should be re-written according to the standard research question format. For Example: What was the plan of UD military related to the withdrawal of troops from Afghanistan in 2014? As the problem is not clearly and concisely stated, therefore the research was not able to narrow down into other researchable issues.
