Discussion
The subject matter that the South Park contains makes the text critical. These subjects were very bold that some of the community groups consider them unethical. The authors of one of the article titled “South Park and the Open Society” stated that South Park as an animated series not only offers simple animation and tasteless jokes having an element of aggressive vulgarity (Curtis and Erion, pp.296). There is no doubt to the assumption that the two authors made. For a number of years, people use to consider the animating program as incompetent adult entertainment. The animated nature of the show makes a number of people think that the show is just wastage of time; however, the subjects it covers depicts about a number of serious issues that prevail in the society. The animated series hardly ignore any societal topic and images and various themes helps it in addressing the political and theological issues, the news related to celebrities, present news events and other situations prevailing in the society. The show has an art of presenting these controversial issues in a light manner with the help of animation and comedy.
The disturbance element of few of the episodes leads towards the anger of the viewers. However, the subjects that the series present focus on truth and reality. The character that possesses an extreme position in the subject is essentially shown as overstated, and a lot of fun relates to that character. One of the episodes of South Park states the legalizing of Marijuana_ a drug that is harmful for the community and remains as a controversial issue in the society. The episode with the title of "Medicinal Fried Chicken," is one of the popular episodes of the Season 14, in which the characters of Cartman and Randy were shown.
