Somatoform Disorder: Hypochondriasis

Introduction

The human mind can be considered as the most powerful influence in the body, as it has the control over majority of the sensory and perceptive functions. In the context of our daily lives the numerous of vital bodily functions that are occurring on an involuntary basis by the human brain, are generally taken for granted. The fact is that the human brain is capable of performing at a higher efficiency than any manmade supercomputer, and without the vital functioning of this component of the body; the human life would essentially become impossible to lead. The Somatoform disorders are the examples of such diseases that are formed due to the inability of the human brain to perform certain limited functions (Butcher et Al,2007). In the context of the variety of tasks that the human brains is functioned to perform, these tasks are relatively of lesser importance, however the lack of these functions can lead to serious medical disorders.

The Somatoform disorders are formed due to certain dilemmas with the sensory and the perceptual functions of the human body. The patients feel intense physical pain in their bodies, but they do not have any physiological dilemma causing such pain. The source of this dilemma is rather contributed to the hardwiring dilemma of the brain, where it sends excessive signals to the Hunan body. These signals of pain or intense stress are not established due to the existence of pain or a physical injury, rather it is only an erroneous message from the brain. These disorders are highly rare, and are found within a very limited scale, throughout the global population. In the Somatoform disorders the thoughts and perceptions of pain are sent through the automatic nervous system, rather than the conscious part of the human mind. It is due to this reason that the patients of such disorders complain about experiencing high levels of chronic pain, however they do not have any injury or explainable causes. In such cases the medical fraternity also has difficulties identifying such diseases, as they cannot easily formulate the correct diagnosis. The medial entities usually have a standard procedure of implementing several treatments and tests, so that they can confirm the actual cause of the pain experienced by the patients. The disorders with the mind are very complicated, and in majority fop the cases extremely difficult to diagnose. For the correct medical research the doctors have to focus a significant amount of their attention towards the medical history of the patient and establish a detailed and comprehensive treatment plan (Lim & Kim, 2005). Due to the complexity of the disorder and the lack of practical knowledge, the medical fraternity has to take numerous critical actions to manage the individuals suffering from the Somatoform disorder. The relevant involved individuals have be to realize that the disorder included numerous psychological stress factors, along with the physical pain sensation. The individuals suffering from Somatoform disorder have developed several additional psychological dilemmas, due to ...
