Introduction

Any social change is the alteration of systems in the social structure, with the help of changes in cultural ideas, rules of behavior, organizations, or value systems. Sustainability or sustainable development has several kinds of meanings and it stimulates different responses. In a wider angle, sustainable development is an effort to unite rising concerns regarding environmental and socio-economic issues. Sustainable development has the capacity to tackle challenges for humanity. But, for doing this, it requires clearness in meaning, focusing on sustainable livelihoods, happiness and lasting environmental sustainability, which needs strong foundation in beliefs that link the social and environmental to human equity. I disagree with Victor's concepts that sustainable development has gone wrong; in fact it is giving the results.

Societal and Environment Forces

Societal forces refer to those that direct and impacts ties among people in companies. Forces such as, what do people give importance to? What do inhabitants require? What are the principles of behavior amongst people? They form what is called as the societal contract which also refers to the understood, ordinary values and ideas about ties between people and among employees and management. An important social force is the changing attitudes, notions and values of generation Y workers as this group grew up technologically adept and globally conscious. They are not hesitant to question their superiors and challenge the status quo and seek work environment which is challenging with complete access to technology and opportunities to learn and progress (Richard & Lane, 2009). Both societal and organizational context are important. During old industrialization, managers were less concerned with finding ways to encourage employees to work harder and were more worried that workers did what they were told. But, today even employees want to give their input in the development of organizations, which in turn motivate workers. Managers either associate with or come into contact with groups higher to them, colleagues and juniors and every group exerts influence attitudes and behaviors by social sanctions to promote loyalty to its norms. This phenomenon can be overcome through planning and problem solving solutions.

Organizations environment is made up of forces outside it that impacts its performance. There includes, suppliers, customers, rivals and competitors and the like.
