What does a social worker do?
As a social worker, your main duty is to listen to your client's problem and study the policies provided by the authorities who are dealing with them and then work out a plan that will hopefully improve their standards of living now, and in the future. Patience is a key factor required in social workers as they will have to listen to the other person's point of view no matter how strongly you disagree. A social worker's job is very emotionally demanding. They also have to deal with some very unpleasant situations like separating a child from his family due to the family having a shortage of funds to provide for that child or if either of the parents is a negative influence (prostitutes or drug dealers) or if the child is a victim to any form of domestic violence.
