Organization Introduction

Wal-Mart is the largest retailer in the world with the concept of convenience stores along with low prices and high volume. Wal-Mart is the US base company Outside the U.S., the company operates in 14 countries. Today, Wal-Mart is the world's largest grocery outlets with more than 3500 stores. Wal-Mart has been declared as one of the largest public corporation by the fortune global 500 index. The company is not only found to be beneficial with respect to economical basis but also effectively fulfils the responsibilities of its stakeholders. The company funded in various events, did charities and helped the communities in several ways. This is one of the major reasons which provides Wal-Mart a competitive edge i.e. socially responsible towards the society (Oslington, Haug, 2008).

Organizational Structure

Organizational Structure is a system consisting of positions and one of the organizational units within the organization. However, it may involve several organizations outside of cells that work together and even the outer cells, which have their own organization, but the organized cooperation of its various parts, such as departments or brands. The organizational structure is generally in larger organizations recognized in the organizational chart and is determined by several factors, which include (Jones, 2007):

Wall-mart Store is divided into departmentalization. There are several departments in the store and employees are divided into these department. It is a division process of the organization in areas with common characteristics. These are grouped into a single unit of people working on the same product or product line - each unit ends up being like a small self-sufficient society. This is a type of structure used when there is a high differentiation between products that require a high degree of specialization by product type. It can be used, for example, in a sales department, through the creation of business units for each product group. In Wall mart store specialists are group under single leadership. They ensure maximum utilization of the technical skills of individuals. It emphasizes the main functions of the company as well as single department.
