The influence and characteristic of female migration from China to Australia

Abstract

This paper aims at over viewing the recent trends in migratory flows from china to Australia and at describing main aspects of female migration nowadays in order to stimulate reflection on possible actions that should be taken to defend the dignity of female migrants.

The first chapter is designated to talk about the current trends in Chinese women during the feminization of migration to Australia .It also reviews the previous existing research theories of female migrants from China to Australia. The second chapter focuses primarily on those female immigrants in Australia who targeted on migration into cities via marriage and labour market, and gives the details about these two main migrations: Marriage migration and skilled migration. Firstly, this paper briefly recalls the history of female migration into Australia since the opening of market in China in 80s in 20th century. In addition, some existing policies and measurements in China and Australian will be discussed. Then the main demographic characteristics for these female who come from China will be shown. The evidence and figures are still to be provided in this paragraph. These characteristic will be divided into four parts: education level, age, marriage status and employment. Then it analyses the reasons for the continuous increase of numbers of marriage immigration and skilled immigration by Chinese women over the recent years. Two migration theories will be applied in this migration flow: Dual labour market theory and network theory to explain that why most Chinese women want to migrant to Australia. Some other reasons are also be analysed in this part like the attitude change by women, Economic and social upheaval, the sustainable migration policies, etc (Duncan, 2008,, P90).

Lastly, the influences of female migration from China to Australian can be talked about, Also, how to reduce the risks and create opportunities are still be illustrated during this process in female migration (Duncan, 2008,, P90) (Ama, 2006,, P 67).

CHAPTER 1

The shift in roles of Chinese women has inferences for the social relations of their households. On one hand, Chinese men are usually able to secure their role as the main source of income, and household head. After the process of immigration, female often feel a sense of dependence for the first time on their husbands, both economically and sociallyand are not content with it (Lary et al. 1994; Man 1995, 1997). Earlier, women were surprised to realize that the (Ama, 2006,, P 67).

For some of the female in Australia, the practice of migration necessitates a role of feminisation. The Australian government perceives migration with the perspective of economic competence, including that only those professionals with skills achieve the best outcomes of employment, and so represents the model immigrant. While selecting migrants, governments all over the Western countries use the criteria of economic. According to these countries, high extents of human capital are suitable and able to provide significant benefits to the national economy.
