Sleeping Beauty

Introduction

Sleeping Beauty is a fairy tale of death, and resurrection of the sleeping sleep. The rose is still a mysterious image, first love, the other, the killing of the thorns. About the meaning of the tale is in the course of time many written. The tale is interpreted as the story of the life cycle: the annual rhythm and the solar cycle. It is remarkable that mainly on the Grimm version and this more or less original version is considered, while both Grimm and Perrault in their time strong literary and substantive editors had felt. Especially the sexual motive from earlier versions by both omitted altogether. More psychological interpretations were seen in the fairy tale the maturation process of a young girl depicted. During puberty (the centenary sleep) the princess protects themselves against the male gender (the hedge) and develops into a complete woman. One can also, more generally, understand the ripening process of the human soul in it, which setbacks the disorientation and inactivity to a greater strength. In some tales and mythologies there is a spinning wheel as a symbol for the wheel of fortune (Hyman, pp.12-25).

Original Version

Long ago, in the beautiful kingdom lived a king and queen, who are eager to have a baby. One day, when the queen took a bath, a frog jumped out of the river, and promised that it will be a year will see its offspring. The prophecy was fulfilled, and the queen gave birth to a baby girl. It was called rubella. Parents issued in her honor a great feast to which they invited twelve fairies that surrounded the care of a newborn child. In the kingdom, there were thirteen, but for the last run of gold tableware. The princess in the original story sleeps for hundred years, during her sleep the princess was raped by the King, seeing her asleep, and after nine months after the prince rapes her she gives birth to two babies, and when one of her babies sucks her fingers the piece of flax which kept the princess asleep was removed, and the princess suddenly wakes up.
