A career in the field of Retail Management is the one in which I want to do work as my profession because for this, one must have to carry his or her skills and way of working to the top. As a lot of people wish to get the position of Retail Management but it takes time, enough experience, and patience. The total experience, training, and required education are strongly needed to make a career in the field of Retail Management. It requires a diploma of high school or GED and many schools are also offering some degree programs for Retail Management as holding a bachelor's or associate's degree in Retail Management must help someone in finding a good employment in this field and earning instant promotions.

A brief Profile for my selected Profession

Building a career in the field of Retail Management usually initiates on the basis of sales as most of the positions regarding Management require some sales experiences. The salespeople for retailing are highly expected to be well-known about the selling of products and also they must be able to serve customers effectively in order to retain them for long times. They should also have some know-how regarding operating the cash management registers and assist in maintaining the general appearance of the retail stores or outlets.

Why did I choose this career?

I consider it as a right profession for me because it is the best career for those who have some interest towards products and commodities. I have interest in the selling of commodities, sales marketing, market segmentation, advertisement and promotional campaigning, marketing researching, and business diversification. This profession also provides a chance to explore some new businesses and getting introduced with distinctive markets and to come into contact with dissimilar types of products. I have to be team leader as well as dynamic for getting success in this field.

Skills, Knowledge, and Competencies for Retail Management

Retails managers are bound for handling and managing several business operations as operating and managing a big retail outlet is not an easy task. It will not be possible to perform two functions simultaneously in a business such as being an owner and a manger at a same time. Knowledge, Education and Trainings Needed

Several courses in the Marketing Management, Business Administration, Accounting, and Economics can be regarded as a strong background for pursuing an effective career in Retail Management. Effective skills of communication will also be improved. Most of the employers want retail managers with just a college degree but the courses of Business Administration may be helpful because it provides a relevant study or information regarding to the Selling and Retailing principles (Kleiman, 2010, p. 154). There are a lot of retail stores that are conducting training session themselves for their new employees as it is necessary for the retail managers to comprehend the operation of Retail Management efficiently.
