Introduction

Tourism, in recent years, has become a major factor of not just globalization but also an important source of revenue generation for many countries in the world. Every year, many people travel to different parts of the world for many reasons including sights seeing, exploring new cultures and tastes, experiencing tropical beaches, conquering the huge mountains, etc. In any case of traveling, the basic thought behind each trip that a tourist make is to change their environment to have recreation that give them relaxation as well as recharges them. However, there is another type of tourism - Sex Tourism - in which a tourist organizes trip to engage him or herself in sexual activities. Sex tourism can explicitly be defined as a trip initiated with an aim of having commercial or non-commercial sex with a man or woman residing at the destination of tourist. It has been seen in the history of tourism that this industry has long maintained relationship with sex which is now considered as a major part of organized international trade. There are many destinations for sex tourism around the world, among them Philippines, Taiwan, Thailand, Brazil, Cuba and Netherlands are recognized as most attractive places for sex tourism.

The evolution as well as development of sex tourism is generally based on four main factors that incrementally converted a traditional business of prostitution in global sex tourism. No doubt, prostitution, is considered as a basic factor associated with sex tourism in which a woman or man is usually seen as an object to provide sexual services in exchange of money which is paid by the tourists. Prostitutes, who want to make money on fast pace, prefer to become part of sex tourism as it opens a different market of foreign clients who are willing to spend money for sex. In addition to the concept of quick-money, poor economic conditions of developing countries are considered as one of the major causes that force or induce a woman to become sex worker for a foreign client. The unemployment ratio also increases the number of women involved in sex tourism. Unemployed women, who come across the business of sex tourism, believe that their foreign clients in Europe or Americas will take care of their social as well as financial requirements and bring presents for them.

Many women in developing countries are also lured to sex tourism by some employment agencies where these women are promised for attractive rewards in return of their services to a foreign tourist looking for sex. Since these tourists come from well-developed regions of the world like Europe or North America, many women also believe that being in contact with these foreign tourists will give them a chance to emigrate to Europe or North America. These women think that making their foreign customers happy by fulfilling their sexual desires could help establishing long-term relationship with them, which could finally end in their migration to customer's homeland where these women will have a prosperous ...
