Security as Process:

The first definition of security calls for taking precautionary measure against any unwanted or harmful situation, thus taking about security as a process. The statement is followed by a few questions, which have to be answered in order to initiate the process of security: What should be the method of selection of security measures and precautions? Are these measures expected to bring improvement in the prevailing state of security?

The process that assesses the state or situation of security is known as 'security risk management'.
