Introduction

Sexual intercourse is a vital component of the human life, as highlighted by several researchers and psychologists. The desire to have sexual intercourse is a crucial objective of the human beings, and it is s prime motivator for several activities. Sigmund Freud suggested that the majority of the life decision made by individuals is directly influenced by their sexual ambitions. Throughout the various stages of a person's life he is influenced by different sexual desires (Modell, 2012). The person has to fulfill these desires thorough diverse means, in order to achieve satisfaction. Whenever there is a dilemma in any stage of sexual development of a person, he will not be able to progress to the advanced sexual stages.

The person would have to alleviate the issues of the previous sexual stage, before he can achieve self development. Considering the significance of the act of sexual intercourse, it is important that an individual is able to fulfill his/her sexual ambitions. In the case of Sybil and Carl, Carl is not able to express himself sexually, and he feels that his partner is not adequately accommodating his sexual needs. In the context of a healthy relation it is important that there is no sexual tension between the partners. In this scenario however there are clear signs of discomfort felt by both of the individuals, in reference to their sexual desires. Cybil faced issues in achieving orgasms in the initial stage f the relation, was able to overcome this dilemma with Carl. Currently she has no issues in her sex life with Carl.
