Role of Task Force in combating criminal activities

Introduction

The U.S economy has witnessed a huge surge in criminal activities which has significantly raised issues insecurity and safety for its citizens. With the rising issues of violence and shootings raising their ugly head, there has now come a time for the policy makers to successfully develop a task force that maintains law and order in the country (Krohn, 2013).

Nature of Problem

There are different types of law enforcement agencies that are responsible for maintaining the law and order in the country and thus use the services of different personnel for successfully minimizing the occurrence of criminal activities. For the purpose of this paper, we would look to discuss the importance and significance of Patrol, Special Operations Commander, and Investigations Commander forming a key part of our task force. A look into the administrative roles they perform as well as ascertaining the rationale on the basis of which they were selected as a part of this task force would be the core aim of this paper.

Development of Task Force

Patrol

The use of patrol has been known to be highly significant in the performance of law enforcement as they have the required expertise and skills to successfully minimize the occurrence of crime related incidents. The patrolling staff is responsible for the supervision of different activities and thus need to keep a strict eye on any untoward incident. They are responsible for performing the departmental administrative functions, supervision of regional patrol operations and also perform the specialized and technical functions that are touted as functions having grave complexities. The patrolling staff is highly skilled in supervising different activities and thus forms a core part of the task force. Without them, the task force would not be able to accomplish its aim of minimizing the occurrence of crime related incidents. The rationale for selecting the patrolling personnel in the task force was to successfully enhance the supervision and direction of patrolling activities (Leptich, Priebe, Singh, Bruce, Chen, Gary, & Redd, 2013).

Special Operations Commander

The special operations commanders are also a significant entity in performing the goals of law enforcement agencies. The special operations commanders are known to be highly skilled in dealing with politically sensitive environments. It is often a misconception among many people that the special operations commanders are only designated to accomplish military objectives and clearly that is not true (Gonzalez, 2013).
