Communication Barriers in Cross Cultural Organizations
ABSTRACT
The effective cross-cultural communication is difficult to achieve in organizations, even in the best conditions. Cultural factors have the potential to increase communication problems. Intercultural communication is a symbolic, transactional and information-containing process in which the degree of difference between the parties is sometimes becomes so great that it creates misunderstanding and different expectations. There is no doubt that culture influences all aspects of communication in any multi-cultural organisation. It is important for cross-cultural organisation to develop concrete strategies to manage such communication in a multicultural context (Marx & Abdullah, 2012). The cross-cultural communication brings many benefits to organisations and facilitate them achieve their business goals. This paper aims to discuss the topic of communication barriers in cross-cultural organisations by studying the different aspect related to intercultural communication.

CHAPTER 1: INTRODUCTION
The significance of communication in the cross-cultural organization is becoming an inevitable reality. The study of communication barriers in the cross-cultural organization is new field of study with rich academic literature. Diverse yet interdisciplinary research study is the prime focus of this topic. A comprehensive synopsis and demonstrative proposal is the main purpose of this research. This chapter draws a basic understanding for conducting the research about cross-cultural organizations (Barnett & Lee, 2002). Topic statement, theoretical framework of literature review, research objectives and research questions (main & sub research questions) are components of this chapter. The subject of study has received wide array of recognition and manuscripts on cultural context of organization. The basic and applied research on communication, culture and organization are widely considerable. Strategies, challenges, anatomy and provision of communicating in a cross-cultural organization are briefly discussed. The principal authority must create a mental framework of associating the topic statement with research objectives and proposed literature review. It is plausible to execute all the measures of research variables for the execution of research (Nezlek et al., 2011).
The area of interdisciplinary cross cultural research on communication barriers is both academic and analytical. It is necessary to prelude a framework for the development of research proposal. Systematic and orderly variables are followed for measurable and resourceful findings. A prerequisite understanding for principal facilitates in the orientation of scaffold for this research study. Understanding of organization, culture and communication is necessary to alleviate barriers. The research topic deals in three main areas. Communication and culture in organization, qualitative fundamentals and barriers reductions are three points to study. These are amalgamation of subjective and normative part of study. Concepts, classification, business models and global corporate efficiencies are new subject areas for research. Culturally determined factors, communication approaches and strategic management for barriers reduction are impressions for these three areas. These are the aims of this research. The design of proposal is critical and multitude of variables is discussed in the defined parameters.
