This paper covers the major differences of regulation policies of genetically modified organisms (GMOs) from Monsanto (a leading agricultural products company) in two big regions the United States and European Union. The study is case study based and conclusions have made from past studies and current position of GMOS in both the regions. In both the regions the status of GMOs is different due to various reasons including customer preferences and acceptance of biotechnology. But during five years the status of GMOs is improved in Europe and few products from Monsanto are now permitted in the EU. The study also reveals some basic economic concepts and its applications on the operations of Monsanto.

Regulation of GMOs from Monsanto
Introduction
Monsanto is the world leading company dealing in genetically modified organisms (GMOs) but simultaneously it is a most contentious corporation in the industrial sector. The company founded in 1901and countenance trial after trial due to the presence of toxic substance in its products. The products are polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), devastating herbicides, polystyrene and growth hormones of bovine not allow which in Canada and completely restricted in Europe. Now, Monsanto has reemerged itself as a representative of “life science” and showing consistent development. The company claims that it aims to solve the world hunger with reduced environmental damage. GMO stands for “genetically modified organisms”, the use of these organisms in agriculture has been contentious since the late 1990s. In early 1990s, the use of GMOs was commercialized by various multinational companies in the United States. It has become the contentious issue when the first GM maize and soybeans exported to Europe from North America. In these days, it is one of the debatable topics especially in the European Union. The use of biotechnology in the agricultural sector has increased globally since the 1990s. This paper highlights the major issues of regulating GMOs from Monsanto in two different regions the United States and European Union.
Background of the study
The use of GMOs in Europe is very controversial as the general public and various political leaders oppose the use of these organisms. For instance, Prince Charles called the GMOs “biggest environmental threat of all times”. Monsanto decided in 2011 that will be no sales of GMO maize in France. The study covers the comparison of regulations of GMOs from Monsanto in United States and European Union (including countries which are part of EU).
Problem Statement
What are the differences have seen in the regulations of GMOs from Monsanto in United States and European Union during the last five years?
Literature Review
The study in the past reveals some socio-economic factors for the use of GMOs in the agricultural sector. (Lords Chares, 2001) conducted a study on the regulatory issues of GMOs and according to them economic growth can be highly driven by the use ...
