Dreams are somewhat mysterious. The meaning of the dreams and their understanding can be misleading at times. The content and types of dreams can change with scene-to-scene or with every night. The dreams may contain bizarre elements or some scenes which can frighten an individual. Some people believe that there are meanings to dreams and that the dreams are compelling and rich. According to Jung, the dreams reveal one's personality and collective unconscious. Jung described that the dreams serve the compensation for the parts of the psyche which are underdeveloped by the individual in the walk of life. Later, Hall discussed that the daily chores, routines and traits of people are also reflected in the dreams.
Dreams are referred as symbol representation of thoughts, mental processes from the subconscious minds. An individual dreams a lot but it is not necessary that an individual can remember all the dreams. Those dreams which are remembered are actually pre-cautious dreams or because the state of mind is in consciousness before the occurrence of dream. Day dreaming is done when the person is wide awake and it's different than dreams occurring when a person is sleeping. During sleeping, the mind has total control over the dreams and the memories which are basically saved in the subconscious mind.
Subconscious mind paints and use the symbols and exhibits them in dreams. Sometimes, dreams also represent an individual's future experiences in life. Dreams often warn or express any future happenings and incidences of the future. The mind provides direct symbol representation through dreams. To expose the true meanings of the dreams, the vision has to undergo careful decoding. If careful decoding is not done, then the purpose and intention of the dream remains clueless. The person remains unaware related to the symbolic meaning of the dream. At many times, it is not necessary that the dreams are intended for the individual who have had the dream. Sometimes, the dream can be about the community, friend, parents or any other person(s) for whom the individual has care and concern in mind.
There are basically two universal principles when the dreams are studied and interpreted. These universal principles are applied on everyone at all times and places. The first principle states that the dream seen by the individual is about the individual only. The second principle states that every place, person and thing in the dream is about the dreamer. During the dream, the subconscious mind takes control of the mind like an inner child. The thoughts are primitive along with the urges. Logic isn't used at all and there is no future planning unlike the conscious brain.
