Introduction

This research paper is based on General Electric's recruitment policy. General Electric is a financial and technology services company, working in more than 100 countries. Its services and products include aircraft engines, power generation, water processing & household appliances, consumer & business financing, industrial products, and medical imaging. General Electric's recruitment and selection process consists of a series of logical steps through which company attract candidates for a job and the right people are elected to fill a vacancy. To avoid errors, recruitment is a part of a long-term approach at General Electric. Clarifying the objectives of the company, its business and its future development is a prerequisite for the development of a recruitment policy.

Role of Human Resource Department

The key strength of General Electric has been the training and development of the employees. This is one major role of the Human Resource Department. The other parts are communication and consolation, and reward and benefit. The Human resource employee mainly focuses on the training and development of the employees for various jobs in the company. The company has training programs for graduates as well as the Distribution Management program. The employee is expected to oversee the training process and hiring of people that will be recruited through these programs. Their responsibility also includes the hiring of these people once they complete these programs, after assessing their performance. This helps in keeping the staff motivated and retaining top performing employees.
