PTSD and Its Treatment

PTSD

The PTSD occurs when someone go through with the traumatic event in the life. It includes Combat Exposure, Physical or Sexual abuse and assault, Terrorist attack, serious accident and Natural Disaster. The PTSD occurs when a stressful event occurs in life and a life threatening situation that is catastrophic in nature. It can affect people of all ages (National Institute for Clinical Excellence).

The term PTSD first appeared in 1980 in American Psychiatric Association Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders such as DSM 3rd and 4th Editions, 1980 and 1994 (Krippner, 2012).

There are some reactions in an individual that identifies in PTSD. There are reactions of PTSD are as follows

Fear or Anxiety

Sadness or Depression

Guilt and Shame

Anger and Irritability

Behavior Changes (National Centre for PTSD).

The symptoms of PTSD can be grouped into three categories

Re-Experiencing Symptoms

Avoidance Symptoms

Hyper arousal Symptoms (National Institute of Mental Health).

The PTSD developed hopelessness, shame, relationship problems. It leads to depression anxiety, alcohol, drug use that occurs during the PTSD. The person developed PTSDs it depends upon They developed the feeling of events that need to the controlled. The help and support after the event (National Centre for PTSD).

Medical and psychological both diagnoses were used to identify the symptoms of PTSD. They are in medical diagnosis. The subjects MRI and Hypothalamus activity help the clinicians to diagnose PTSD in patients. It is depicted in the figures form as presented on the right hand side (Astur, 2006). In Psychological Diagnosis it was identified that POST TRUAMTIC STRESS disorders diagnosed when a person is upset more than 3 months. It is diagnosed in two sessions.
