Introduction

The movie Romeo and Juliet is a romantic love story. It is a play written by Shakespeare. The movie was first directed in 1996 by the director Baz Luhrmann. The star cast of this movie is Leonardo de Caprio as Romeo and Claire Danes as Juliet. The movie presents strong emotions and motivation for love. This psychological thriller created the history and won many awards in different award shows in Hollywood. The story revolves around the two main characters and their love. There were many hurdles in their way and finally the tragic end of the movie made the audience cried and falls in love with the movie. The reason of this paper is to evaluate the construct of the movie on psychological and scientific basis.

Emotions and motivation are usually accompanied with physiological arousals that start at an automatic level means involuntary. Emotions involve central nervous system and peripheral nervous system. The emotions can also detect by Galvanic skin response and polygraph. Physiological arousal is aroused by an event then person interpreted these arousals, after interpretation of these arousals a person can experience emotion. Whereas psychoanalytic theory says about motivation that whatever we are doing and whatever we are thinking and every emotion we are experiencing has two goals: first is that it helps us to survive and second is that it prevents our destruction, these goals are the basic source of motivation for a person.

The psychological structures that are associated with emotion and motivation are love, hatred, enmity, friendship, loneliness etc (Lilienfeld, 2010). The movie Romeo and Juliet are about love and affection and the motivation to get the love at any cost.

Love is the name of emotion and passion that a person feels for another person. Two important factors for falling in love with someone are intelligence and kindness. These two attributes attract people towards a person. The importance of intelligence is significant in everyday life and kindness is an indicator for a long term successful relationship. Love happens when we see someone who seems to be attractive to us and our psychological emotion and motivation aroused behind this attraction scene.
