Overview of the Assignment

Registered Nurses and Licensed Practical Nurses are bound to undergo certain licensure to operate in a particular state. In context to this paper, the state chosen is Maryland since I am currently practicing in this state. The purpose of this paper is to examine the regulations for licensure within Maryland, including any mandatory continuing education requirement.

Scope of Practice

Scope of nursing practice defines the what, why, how, when and where do nurses practice, including their complex nursing practices. For a registered nurse, the scope of practice is principally a mutual endeavor between American Nursing Association and the Society of Registered Nurses (Polit, 2008). However, a registered nurse can practice the following factions autonomously;
