Personal responsibility refers to the adaptation of a behavior in one's life where they acknowledge and accept the standards that are charted out by the societal norms.

Personal responsibility plays an important and integral part in four basic aspects of life; education, work, marriage and sexual behavior.

A student should hold himself responsible for his study and his results that he produces after appearing in tests and examination.

Introduction

Personal responsibility refers to the adaptation of a behavior in one's life where they acknowledge and accept the standards that are charted out by the societal norms. Responsible are those people who understand and accept the significance of their own behavior, and its importance in comparison to the standard set of norms that exists (Brown, 2009). Another interpretation of personal behavior is that the people take responsibility for their actions. If something in their lives goes wrong due to their own actions, they should stand up to what they have done rather than blaming it on others or external factors. The fact that a person knows what he or she has done, and the following consequences are taken up solely as his or her responsibility. A person who tends to find others and blames the reason of failures and wrongdoings on others cannot be categorized as a responsible person.

Personal responsibility falters the moment a person tends to start blaming others for his misconduct and behavior that may lead to a mishap. These people can include his peers, friends and family. The external factors may include the societal norms, economic conditions and the environment in which they are living.

Discussion

Personal responsibility plays an important and integral part in four basic aspects of life; education, work, marriage and sexual behavior. No other person or factor is responsible in these aspects other than the person himself who is making the decision or conducting the act.

When the act of personal responsibility is shed on education and the role it plays in success through the act especially college education, one can judge that personal responsibility plays a crucial role through the act. When the aspect of personal responsibility is discussed in contrast with college success, it demands that a student should hold himself responsible for his study and his results that he produces after appearing in tests and examination. A student is responsible for his success through the college.

It is the student's personal responsibility to study as much as he can to produce good results and learn the maximum that can help him achieve his set target (Leamnson, 1999).
