Introduction

Appraisal process in business is considered as the critical part that that helps how each individual in organization performed their duty. Different performance evaluation process has been done by the senior manager for each of their employees. During the time of the evaluation process, the current job description on file with the Human Resource department will be critically analyzed, (Bratton & Gold, 1999) and updated accordingly by both employees as well as supervisor. Appraisal process is also measures accomplishment and skills with uniformity and accuracy (Wan &, Huat, 2002), thus it helps to make decision about professional growth of employees. In this paper I will discuss about performance appraisal process and training and development strategy performed in two major United Kingdom companies, McDonald and Royal Dutch Shell. This study is seeking to examine and analyze the performance appraisal system and their impact of performance working system in organization that is related to training and development.

Introduction to McDonald Restaurant Ltd

Established in year 1955 with only one restaurant, in today's time McDonalds is comes under in of the biggest restaurant and fastest growing restaurant that gives number of product for their customers all around the world. Company annual sales are around $30 billion and their operating stores are more than 100 companies. In recent years that have planned to opened around 3300 stores. McDonald is opened 1974 first time in UK in Woolwich and now they have running more than 1000 restaurant in UK.

Process of Human Resource (HR) has involved acquiring, appraising and make compensating each employee (Boxall & Purcell, 2008). HR is also refers towards polices, system and practices that are engaged to influenced behavior of each employee and their performance (Ulrich, 1997).

Appraisal Process

Mc Donald restaurant uses two types of feedback process, first graphical rating scale and 360 degree feedback helps organization to take review about employee from their colleagues (Employee Handbook, 2008). Actually restaurant is based on team work, thus this appraisal process helps to evaluate each employee performance (Fletcher, 1997).

The second option is graphical rating scale is helps them to evaluate performance of each employee about variety of job behaviors they performing such as serving customer. Quality, quantity, interpersonal skills, Co-operation, judgment and attitude are important part of this appraisal process (mcdonalds.co.uk).



Reward System

Mc Donald is paying the minimum wages for their employees. This is noted that personal experience that the lower level of employees that are involved crew-member considered as important part for an organization, usually remain unhappy with their wages and reward process system (Armstrong , 2002)). There is a need for Mc Donald that they should increase motivation and commitment among the lower level of staff by increase their appraisal scheme for this level.

Internal Promotion
