Introduction

There are numerous troubles that a person faces in one's life, and each trouble bears its own implications, aspects, and detrimental effects on the person. Interestingly, most often the person him/herself is unaware of the trouble, and inadvertently stretches and consumes him/herself into the unseen facets of the issue. Not before when a person is excessively consumed with the trouble and finds it rather hard to evade its consequences, does he realize what he had indulged and inclined himself into throughout his life. Most often the consequences that a person bears later in his life, have direct roots in the early stages of his life, when his cognitive abilities are rather vulnerable, and he assumes this world and its aspects, as they are presented to him. Amongst those primary troubles that have a root linked to the early stages of his life, is the peer influence.

Problem Statement

For the purpose of safeguarding our children from the dire consequences of the peer influence, it is highly imperative that not only the root cause of those influences is understood, but also the tendency of the child himself/herself of being effected by the peer influence is astutely gauged, and dealt accordingly. However, most often the child himself is unaware the detriments peer influence, as well as, of being the soft target and easy victim of that curse. That is the point where the role of parents plays the most significant part. However, to what extent and to what degree the interference of the parents has an effect on the peer influence their child experiences, is worth an argumentative debate. Nonetheless, if astute measures are adopted by the parents, bearing in mind their own influence on their children, they can astutely gauge the actions they necessitate employing, in order to successfully draw their child out of that disturbing aspect.

The literal connotation f the term peer influence entails the phenomenon of influencing, moulding or formulating a person's behaviour or cognitive approach towards numerous aspects of life or the person himself. The peer influence is believed to be both unintended and planned, depending on the motive or the actions of the effecter. The peer influence in the early stages of one's life (childhood), [play a pivotal role in the development later in life.

The aspect of peer influence is a broader domain in itself. The peer influence does not confine itself to only one characteristic; in fact, it eloquently spreads itself over a number of spheres, leaving varying effects on various individuals.
