Introduction

The main company involved in this paper is Jefferson County School System, it is a vast school which serves and educates approximately 10,000 students every year. The school comprises of 18 sections out of those 14 are elementary section schools, 2 are middle section schools and two are high section schools. The county catered by the school is populated by approximately 80, 000 people.

The case addresses the current system of the school which is not completely automated and uses very old machines for the office work. In this case the school requires to shift from an existing school system into a totally new centralized system which is robust, fast , accurate and more secure. For this an entire project will be managed which will consist of the selection of system, recruitment of human resource and budgeting of the entire system.

In this case the main critical emphasis will be upon the selection of equipment and from where it was purchased and for what price the equipment was purchased? The case study will further target the selection of vendor. It will further suggest how the identified loop holes could be targeted?

Background

JCSS transformed its setup from manual system into a computerized system many tears age in the year 1960s when one of the universities leased its equipment to them for maintain enrollment data of the students. In the year 1986 the transformation further improved when the school purchased an IBM 38 pc for its use. As time passed the school further automated their setup of work as they added financial applications and other stuff to ensure that the school performs at its optimum level and compete with all schools.

In the year 1995 as the computer took a rapid shift in technology the director of Finance of the school identified that the current system was failing to provide optimum result and acknowledged the need of change in the current administration system. This shift was catered by a positive change of implementing new computers and a modern automation system for the school.

What went Better

The fittings arrived and was fixed in October 1997. One of the H-P minicomputers was established at the Administration Building to handle the monetary frameworks and the other at Roosevelt High to handle person frameworks. These machines are associated by phone lines, also the terminals and printers in each of the schools are joined with one or both of the machines straightforwardly (assuming that they are nearby enough) or through phone lines.
