Introduction

State Swim wants to increase sales, for this purpose, it would like to discern if Perth community would undertake Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Senior First Aid courses. To accomplish this objective, it will utilize marketing research process. Marketing research is a methodical study of the problem to construct a model and identify the facts in order to ascertain enhanced decision making and marketing of products and offerings. A marketing research is a systematic process consisting of various stages. Different stages in the marketing research process are identifying and describing the problem and the goals of the research, determining appropriate design for research, developing the tools, design and research plan, collecting and analysing the information and finally presenting the findings of the research to facilitate decision making (Cantt et.al, 2007, pp.157-158). A marketing research helps any organization gain insights about the customers and their needs and wants.

Types of marketing research to be used by State swim

State Swim will collect information from Allens Training to make out the participation of people in previous courses and use the report to make an analysis in the form of graphical charts. Primary data would be gathered to answer ambiguous information that it was not established in the secondary data and also for outlining new customers' needs. A primary data is the first hand data that is collected originally during the research process whereas a data that is collected previously by someone else, it is counted as secondary data (Yolles, 2006, p. 169).

The research carried out will be both qualitative and quantitative. Quantitative research includes the data that is statistic or numeric whereas the qualitative research includes the data that is subjective and interpretative.
