Introduction

In the contemporary global business environment there are various multinational firms, which are seeking to become the market leaders. In this scenario in which there is a high level of competitive forces present, it is the role of the managers to help the company attain a strategic advantage. This leadership and the vision of the organizational managers that helps the company enhance its operational activities, and become an influential business entity. A company is not only a manufacturer of goods or provider of services; it is also a brand which holds a certain value in the minds of the consumer (Westley & Mintzberg, 1989, pp. 31). In the contemporary business environment the phenomenon branding has become a crucial aspect in the business sector. The managers of these companies have to ensure that the adequate strategies are implemented within the organizational sector, so that a positive brand image is developed for the company. This process will allow the organization to become highly attractive other global consumer market and the sales function would be positively impacted.

The role of the organizational leader is to identify the relevant trends in the global consumer market and develop a valuable product. In an industry there are several other competitive brands which offer similar type of products and services, however it is the role of the manager s and the leaders to ascertain the differences which are required by the consumers. The visionary leaders have the ability to analyze the market conditions and highlight the relevant opportunities. It is due to this reason that I have chosen to analyze the leadership attributes and qualities of two of the most influential managers and business leaders, who are Roman Abramovich and Steve Jobs.

Leadership Vs Management Perspective: Jobs Vs Abramovich

There is a precise yet minimal difference between a manager and an effective leader, as a manager has to focus on the operational aspects of the business as well. The leader on the other hand is the personality which focuses on the vision and the strategic direction of the company. In this perspective I have chosen two individuals who primarily had a leadership role in their respective fields of business. Roman Abramovich is a highly successful Russian originated owner of the English football club, Chelsea; whereas Steve Jobs is the world renowned leader of the iconic brand Apple (Isaacson, 2012, pp. 101). Both of these leaders of their respective organizational entities were able to provide a strategic vision for their companies, which allowed them to attain a substantial amount of success in the industry.

Steve Jobs' contribution in making Apple one of the most sought after and popular computer and IT brands in the world can be adequately compared to Abramovich's role in turning Chelsea from a medium sized football club in to a world renowned and supported entities.
