Introduction

There is the existence of diverse facts and opinions related to prostitution with many other issues within the subject of feminist movements. There are critical and supportive overarching perspectives on sex work and prostitution. It is a form of women exploitation and women dominance over women according to anti-prostitution feminists. There are also critical arguments related to the current patriarchal order of society. There are feminists who argue for negative effect of prostitution other related form of sex work. There are stereotypical views about such women that they are abused and used by women and are also considered as sex objects. Sex worker activism and force prostitutions are two different schools of thoughts with heated arguments on the stances of prostitution. This assignment highlights three different views of authors present in the form of three different sources: two books and one article. The purpose of this assignment is to study these three literatures separately and present consensus on individual viewpoint. A brief comparison and contrast is also presented at the end of this paper.

Article: Putting On Style by Kathy Peiss

This article is from the dissertation-turned-book of Kathy Peiss, Cheap Amusements. It explains ethnographic experiences of author about working women. The author argues about the critical part of the reorientation of the culture of America. The subculture of working women has been found in the amusement resorts and urban dance halls. This chapter explains about the distinctive stage of experimentation and self-expression of women. It also stretches insights from the working-class adolescents of women with the glimpse of financial responsibility in the early age and subordinated desires for the family survival. The author also explained the cultural style of working women in the old culture. The female participation in that time explained about the commercialized recreation of women that includes slangy speech, fancy dresses, and provocative behavior in public places (Fraser, 2012). Young women have articulated such emergent characteristics in themselves with the particular constellation of concerns and values. The social street life shows a noted observation of author about these women. The author explained that these girls get attracted to boys and with some hard hitting factors in the context of gang-government and street alternative environments (McKeganey & Barnard, 1996). It taught them about collection of mores and manners that were not learnt in school. Streets were used as a location for the exploration of nascent sexual feeling with flirtatious and watchful eyes.

The author has also quoted examples about clubs that provides sexual experimentation the organizational life of young that were reported from East Siders to the University Settlements. These women follow expressing contradictory values and forms of clothing, leisure, and style with different cultural styles and forms that includes language, clothing, style, leisure and music.
