Introduction

Grendel is one of the three antagonits. Along with his mother and also with the dragon in Anglo Saxon great poem BEOWULF. Grendel is basically teremed as one of the monster, though it can be said that it is primarily a subject of a deep scholarly arguent. Grendel is actually feared by almost all except of the Beowulf.

Grendel, is a huge bear sort of a monster. He has spent his last twelve years isolated in a war which was against the band of the humans. The actual action of the Grendel is seen in almost the very last year of the war which was fought agains the band of human. The novel actually skips back in the time so thet it can illuminate the very origins of the conflict and also the Grendel's private history.

Discussion

It can be said that as a young monster, Grendel was living with his mother in some cave which was located in the outskirts of the human civilization. It is grendel's mother who is his only companion. Beowulf actually manages to surprise Grendel and he grabs him by his arm. As they both were strugling grendel slips in a pool of the blood and that was the point when Beowulf gains power and takes the upper hand. Beowulf now starts whispering in Grendel's ears. Then Grendel takes a move and in a sequence of the hallucinations. In those movements he actually sees Beowulf developing huge wings. Beowul manages to smash Grendel against the wall, which cracks his head. Beowulf also manages to rip the Grendel's arm off his shoulder. This makes Grendel to run away.
