Background

This paper intends to discuss the important aspects researched in relation with the qualitative and quantitative analyses for the written feedback given by the three teachers by considering the frequency and focus of written feedback in addition to the type of the written corrective feedback. The research basically revolves around the significance of applied linguistics, particularly in second language writing. Second language writing is always difficult for the learners. Different results gathered through the qualitative and quantitative analyses will be discussed in this paper. The discussion will also revolve around the concepts developed within the literature review. The discussion will be critically presented. The discussion for the purpose of being effective must be related to the research questions developed for the research. The discussion will overall provide a deep routed analysis to the research of second language writing.

The Research Questions:

What are the beliefs of EFL teachers of writing with regard to written corrective feedback?

What are EFL teachers of writing practices with regard to written corrective feedback?

What are the preferences of EFL students with regard to written corrective feedback?

Discussion

The above mentioned research questions revolve around the exploration of difficulties and other important factors associated with the second language writing. English being a foreign language for students in countries like Saudi Arabia usually tends to create immense problems in learning. Further, learning to write a foreign language is exceptionally difficult. Corrective feedback seems to be important in the areas for the purpose of making sure that the students do not lose their motivation to learn English as a second or a foreign language. The research questions also require for intense research regarding the beliefs of EFL teachers of writing with regard to written corrective feedback. The beliefs of teachers remain certainly important the teachers are the ones who ensure the correct learning of the students. The motivation and tolerance level of teachers is important to be high.

Further, the writing practices with regard to written corrective feedback of EFL teachers are also important to explore. The basic reason behind this exploration is the fact that the feedback of the teachers provides a deep idea about the progress of the students within the learning of English as a foreign language. The preferences of EFL students with regard to written corrective feedback is also explored in this research for the purpose of making sure that all the aspects associated with the learning of English as a foreign language is covered. The important aspects must revolve around all the beliefs of teachers and students. In order to make this research more reliable and comprehensive, there is a need to make sure that all the viewpoints of all the stakeholders are covered and the preference is not given to the important stakeholder like teachers. Therefore, the viewpoints of teachers and students both are gathered within this research in order to become effective and reliable (Smith, 1994 Pp. 15-20).
