On January 11 & 12, 2008, 8pm, at Rose Theater - Jazz at Lincoln Center, “Kings of the Crescent City” celebrated the music of Louis Armstrong, Jelly Roll Morton, Joe “King” Oliver and Sidney Bechet. Led by Victor Goines (clarinet, soprano saxophone), the ensemble comprised predominately of New Orleans natives consisted of Troy “Trombone Shorty” Andrews (trumpet), Marcus Printup (trumpet), Wycliffe Gordon (trombone), Don Vappie (guitar), Jonathan Batiste (piano), Reginald Veal (bass) and Herlin Riley (drums).
