Abstract
In the world of sports medicine, there has been a huge interest in factors and problems relating to enhancement of the muscle performance of an athlete. For this purpose there are different types of kinesiology tapes that are used by the athletes. The kinesiology tape is an extremely thin, therapeutic and stretchy tape that benefits a broad amount of inflammatory conditions and injuries. In both elasticity and thickness the kinesiology tape is particularly identical to the skin of humans. The ease of use and its simplicity gathered with its benefits make it a near necessity if the tendon and the muscle health is an individual's goal. It allows to be worn without restriction, constricting and binding of movement. The kinesiology tape is commonly used in clinical practice. It is being used regularly to relieve pain and has a powerful effect to enhance an athlete performance. The focus of this study is to assess the effects of kinesiology tape that primarily impact the muscular strength of an athlete. This tape was invented initially in 1970's; and it has shown a recent dramatic increase in the popularity. The use of kinesiology taping is not just the treatment for elite, from a swollen ankle to postural issue; the kinesiology tape roll can also assist almost every patient. In this study few benefits of kinesiology and the effects of this tape on muscular strength of an athlete are explored. The study suggests that the kinesiology tape does not contain any drug or medicine, but all the benefits come from the elasticity of the tape. It is applied commonly for improved functions, improved performance during sports, aids in healing, drains swelling and reduces pain. The study concludes that further studies involving good quality, multi-center, large and well reported randomised control trails are needed that can measure the long term results and outcomes of the benefits of kinesiology taping.
