Jacob Van Braam was born on 1 April 1727 in the Netherland. He was a mercenary and sword master who trained the George Washington when he was 19 years old in the year 1751 or soon after that. Moreover, Jacob Van Braam was retained as a translator by Washington. He taught Washington military tactics. Washington also took Braam with him as an assistant on the message of the French commander on the Ohio.
