Organizational Background
ITC is an emerging Indian organization that earned revenues equal to 7 Billion dollars in the year 2010. The internal business division was developed in the year 2000 to initiate the improvement in the supply chain through development of direct links with farmers for procurements. The organization was designed for playing the role of a social forum to exchange the information together with e-commerce transaction. The business initiated a channel for the modification of procurement processes for the crops such as wheat and soy. The business became lucrative channel for distribution and product development for ITC (Deveshwar, 2012).
Business Process
The e- Choupal has been operated by operator, who is also the salesman of ITC. On this forum, the farmer can visit the KIOSK and he can present the sample of his products to the salesman/operator. The salesman provides him a quote. In case, the farmer considers the quote suitable or lucrative for his business, he may present his products to the collection centre of ITC. The payment is made within two hours of collection.
