Influence of Modern Pop Music on Teen Behavior

Introduction

The pop music has always been one of the main elements in the formation of culture, and in turn can influence behavior and emotions of individuals. Throughout music history, pop music has undergone major changes, one may notice changes in musical styles over the years from classical music through disco until the current one; the pop music, and every age has had a musical style that represents.

Teenagers are more likely to be influenced by new styles of pop music, since it is known that young people construct their identity with costumes, hairstyles, language, and music. Young people join groups. Friends are the center where they form patterns of behavior that follows the teenager. The desire to be independent of the family will meet with the dependence of a group, in short, establishing a system of beliefs. Group members act according to these beliefs. In groups, the connecting element is music, beliefs are generated from it. Pop music is what determines the way they dress, hairstyle, moving, the way he talks. This set of beliefs constructs the identity of that group membership. That is why the population young, whatever they show higher levels of purchase of record and are the primary audience of the music video channels (Bogt & Soitos, pp. 568-71).

In a world that tends to the extreme homogeneity, the pop music seems to be the last exit which shows a difference. Be original, independent or rebellious, and going against the grain. Maybe find an identity different from their parents, or perhaps just take the time off, or drown the feeling of loneliness, and find a group of people who rely to the demands of the system. The fact is that one of the activities that most teenagers do is listen to music. The music brings together individuals from very different points of society. This is not ignored by record companies, which have very clear the market, particularly youth. For this reason, it is logical concern for search, maintain and expand a consumer market. For this, the media play an important role to use these companies to spread the new music and new artists.

The problem of research

Pop music is an element that influences every day in the life of youth, and teens do not listen to what their parents say is right, but listen to what they want or what their friends tell them, but the current pop music is characterized by more violent messages each day, and promiscuous sex that are heard by the young, well known artists in their videos are becoming less and less clothing and showing sexual messages that young people seek to follow. An example of this can be seen in the reggeaton which is so fashionable today, it shows that his lyrics do not bring positive messages, but still all sing and dance and just listen. So in this research it was decided to address whether the pop music they listen to, today's adolescents affects their behavior or not.
