The attacks of September 11 changed the fate of the country. Terrorism is an aspect that has become an important part of the economy of the country and has impacted the world over all, as well. Terrorism has impacted the economy of the country in a negative manner and it has helped the people in realizing that they work in a manner which is suitable for the country and also help the people to identify the elements that lead to terrorism. The government of the country has changed and so has its policies regarding terrorism. There are a number of policies that have been implemented by the new government to make sure that they work according to the changes that have occurred in the country, as well as, the economy.

American Heritage Dictionary defines terrorism as 'The unlawful use or threatened use of force or violence by a person or an organized group against people or property with the intention of intimidating or coercing societies or governments, often for ideological or political reasons.'

Foreign policy goals of the country have changed since these attacks. This is due to the fact that the country has focused more on the terrorist activities that are being carried out by different terrorist organizations. The National Security Strategy was formulated in 2010 according to which the American interests should be protected and the economy of the country should be preserved. Another goal of the foreign policy of the country is refocusing on the threat from Al Qaeda in Afghanistan and Pakistan. President Obama has stressed on this and has made sure that threats from Al Qaeda should be monitored and it should be ensured that their terrorist activities are countered.

Currently, the country's position is also at stake in the world. The United States' position in the world is now threatened by China. Change in the goals of the foreign policy is one reason for this.
