Sexuality

Sexuality is defined as erotic needs, identities and exercise. It is also referred as elements of societal and personal life having erotic importance. The discussion of morality of sexuality is two folded: a greater knowledge and approval of multiplicity and a defense of the developed norms. Sexuality either has biological determinates called as genes or ingrained in society and culture. The biological point of view of sexuality is known as essentialist whereas, the social view is known as social-constructionist view. The biological (essentialist) view states that every individual is, by nature, heterosexual. Heterosexuality is reinforced by the societal norms and implies that heterosexuality should be approved the way it should be.

It is difficult to establish demographics of sexual orientation due to insufficiency of reliable information. Moreover, sexuality is a social edifice it is feasible to misinform or hide from people regarding sexuality as it is not observable. According to Michael Foucault, sexuality is a historical construct. Biologically, in man and women sexual needs are expressed by means of sexual impulses. This impulse is analogous to the impulse of hunger and nourishment. Corresponding to hunger these expressions are not being found colloquially, the term 'libido' is used (Brickell, 2006).

Freud's Theory and Sexuality

The theories of personality and development of Freud are based on the therapeutic technique of psychoanalysis. According to the definition of Freud's classical theory, sexuality is extremely extensive and perhaps sometimes appears as all-encompassing as to be ineffectual. Freud believes that every organism seeks for physical pleasure. As, observed in the case of Millie and Max, both of them were found to involved in monogamous sexual relationship since they met.
